L2's first ultrasound

full size version

On 24 August, Michel had her first doctor's appointment. Although, I shouldn't call it a doctor's appointment, but more of a stiff-plank-of-wood's appointment. This guy almost had the same bed manners as a stiff plank of wood, though I am thinking the stiff plank of wood may have won in a head to head contest. This guy didn't even acknowledge Abigail's existence, and he hardly acknowledged me. He treated Michel with enough consideration to keep a rock happy. Enough about the lumber with a PHD, I think I've made my point.

Michel is healthy, and LittleTwo is healthy. We got to watch and listen to L2's blood pump, which lifted our hearts tremendously. If you are looking at the picture, the head (which houses the brain) is to the left, which is naturally the largest part of the child (because the child is a descendant of Michel and myself, and has a naturally large brain) at this point. This will remain true for the life of the child, assuming the child will remain an Allain throughout its entire life. In this picture, L2 is 26.1mm long, which is 1.0275591 inches long. In layman's terms, 1 inch will suffice. Groovy, eh? Btw, this was a transvaginal ultrasound, meaning it was done with the sonic emitter inside of Michel's ... *cough* ... you know.
The following is a weekly calendar we will use to help you guys keep updated with the progress of the child. We have just started Week 10. This ultrasound was performed just as we were starting Week 9. The apparent physical age of the fetus was determined to be 9 weeks, 2 days. We are guessing we conceived around 30 June.

We have naturally been running a lot of names around for the last few weeks, and have ended up with our current two best: Elliot and Evelyn. Actually, we like Aidan for a boy's name better, but it is an intensely popular name, lately. Check it out at www.babynamewizard.com. Specifically, check out the Name Voyager. Type in a name, and watch it show on the popularity chart over the last century. Notice how Abigail is huge in popularity as well. We have found many couples around us have either chosen or strongly considered Abigail for their child's name. Weird, huh? We are hoping to pick a name that will not get lost in the crowd. We are definitely open to suggestions!

Here are some others we are considering in the strong name category:
Boy
1. Dark Lord
2. Warlock
3. Steel
4. Macho

Girl
1. Starlight
2. Sparkle
3. Rainbow Happy Sunshine

Feel free to help us in this endeavor.

We do not plan on finding out the gender until birth, just like with Abigail. It appears we are taking the road less travelled, as 99.9% of the other pregnant couples we have talked with will find out as soon as they can.

No matter how good a day you may be having, listening to the heart beat of your next child will make it better. Unless you are a stiff plank of wood.
